Organizationally, the Information Security Office is the third unit within Enterprise Infrastructure Services. Operationally, we leverage expertise and staff from all units within the overall ITS organization.
Our mission is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the University’s information technology resources and data by safeguarding them from compromise, misuse, loss, or damage caused intentionally or unintentionally.
We firmly believe that our people are our strongest weapon in constantly-evolving cyber-security arena. We take actions to inform the campus community of active cyber threats.
The Information Security Office works with various groups across campus to review and analyze both existing and new systems to ensure they are deployed secure ways while still enabling realistic and productive workflows. Technology is an ever-changing and dynamic thing – hence the constant conversation of the balance between security and usability.
No system or business process can be 100% immune to compromise – there are simply too many variables. The Information Security Office understands the need to be prepared to respond to real (or possible) compromise.
